OPEN RP POST (wip)

This is a general catch-all post for anyone who wants to thread with Ginko in his original setting - or at least something resembling it. Want to play an AU? Post-jamjar? Unexpected interdimensional travel? It's all good! In addition, if you want to thread something with mushi and such but in a more modern setting, I'm totally open to modern-day AU's. I'm fine with prose, brackets, whatever.

Please note that I'm totally open to using this post for action, fluff, whatever, but not smut. If you have any additional questions about the setting or types of mushi, just message me on this account!

JW wasn't sure he wanted this guy following him...even if he did probably save him from a serious infection. But the way he described the mushi...they didn't sound like his fae foes at all. James turned, glancing back at the stranger with his bad eye.

"I don't...think we're on the same page, stranger. Fae are powerful, mischievous, and heartless." He tapped one of the fuzzy tines on his antlers. "I'm pretty sure they didn't saddle me with these in order to survive."

Hey, the guy had caught his interest, and it wasn't like he needed to rush to get back to the village.

Ginko raised an eyebrow. He could imagine mushi causing a human to grow antlers, certainly, but... "Maybe not. It's not as if mushi never make odd changes to people's appearances, but it is starting to sound like these fae are something else entirely."

With the road under his feet, he turned to face Giko and the slope that led to the well that did not have any money in it.

"Phooka, nixie, gnome, wanting deer, siren...none of that rings a bell?"

JW was starting to think it might be a good idea to head back the way he came.

He frowned. "No? I've never heard of any of those."

A thoughtful frown worked its way onto his face and he moved his hands from his pockets to his hips, casting a long look down the road.

"I guess I should be glad then...if the closest things you have are more like animals."

"Hm. Maybe so." He watched James thoughtfully for a few seconds. There was something odd about the way he talked about locations - it certainly seemed like he was used to traveling a lot, in any case.

"...Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Worlds away," he repeated and threw in a smirk for good measure. He didn't often bother explaining the multiverse to strangers. "Nowhere place called Hawksaw. Not bad far from Shiloh if you take the right roads."

Ginko had never heard of the place, but from the sound of it he wasn't expected to. It certainly seemed like confirmation that he was from another country, anyway.

"How'd you end up in Japan? Do you travel a lot?"

His brows sprang up and for a moment, he looked afraid. Then he started laughing.

"Well shit if I didn't walk a long ways!" He expected to find himself in some corner of the universe, a strange pocket where ducks were the main sapient species or maybe where the color blue didn't exist...it was funny to find himself in plain old Japan!

"You... walked." To an island. This was getting stranger by the moment.

"Well I didn't swim!"

Japan! He'd found some roundabout pig path that looped all the way to Japan!

"I'm glad I marked that tree! That's amazing...but y'know, I thought there'd be more buildings." He finally stopped laughing and looked down the other slope where the rice fields were. "So far you and maybe four other folks are all the people I've seen."

"Well, that's no surprise. It's not a very big village." He shrugged slightly. "There are no larger towns for quite some distance."

"That's a shame...I wanted to see the bullet trains. WELP. It's been real and it's been fun, but it hasn't been real fun." He held out a hand. "Any fruit trees with goblins in them I should be aware of?"

[onegreeneye]

"Bullet trains... what are you talking about?" He stared in confusion for a moment before reaching out, a little awkwardly, to shake JW's hand. "Not... that I know of."

JW tilted his head, still shaking the man's hand. "Bullet trains. Skyscrapers. All that weird food I can't pronounce. I saw it all on television."

...Uh.

"...What's television?"

He released Ginko's hand.

"Uh--" Panic rippled across his face. He was in a Different Japan. He was, more or less, a completely harmless world-walker, but he'd seen enough scifi shows to know the kind of impact you could have on a timeline if you did something wrong at the wrong time. "Nevermind. See ya, Clover."

Excuse him while he just starts skittering away.

Hahaha nice try. Ginko is far too nosy, especially if you've got him actively curious, to leave it at this. He hurried after, quietly glad that he had opted to leave his pack in the village.

"Hey-- hang on, what were you talking about? And my name is Ginko, not 'Clover'!"

MAKIN' HIS WAY DOWN TOWN.

WALKIN' FAST.

FACES PASS AND HE'S-- still being followed. Crap crap crap.

"Sorry, pal, can't tell ya or I'd have to kill ya! Forget you ever met me."

"You-- what?! Why?" He didn't seem to actually believe JW, judging by how he hurried to get alongside him. "You were the one who started talking about all that-- whatever it was to begin with!"

JW started to break a sweat as he fast-walked away from this guy. He started fishing in his pockets and suddenly whirled around brandishing a strange slick silver device. It was a $15.00 cellphone from Walmart.

"Take one more step or this thing will turn you to ashes!" He mashed one of the keys and made it beep.

For better or worse, Ginko didn't have the cultural context for the idea that this weird silver thing was inherently futuristic and potentially dangerous. But, given that this guy had already been saying weird stuff to begin with, he wasn't sure what to think now.

He stopped anyway, flinching a little at the sudden beep and staring at the phone. "...What is it?"

"I just told you! It's a deadly weapon! Now back off!" He pressed the 4 key and made it beep a few more times. "I appreciate you savin' me from the well monster, but I got somewhere to be."

Ginko glanced between the phone and the man holding it, and he started to open his mouth like he was going to reply - and then he froze.

His gaze flicked toward something he had caught out of the corner of his eye, a thin, worm-like creature, if JW could see it, moving along the ground on narrow, branching legs that tapped blindly at the soil beneath them.

He finally spoke up, very quietly. "Don't move."

James quirked a brow. He flinched. Mushi did not give off the same vibe as spirits of the departed. He had no headache, no nosebleed. But there was something. There was also the issue of Ginko and JW knew that if he were in the white-haired man's shoes, he might try to pull a stunt to get the information he wanted.

"I'm not falling for that garbage." He took a step back.
