for one thing, depending on what happened to start with, the worst of it may be over. or there may be more extreme changes to come.

if you can give me a general idea of what kind of changes have happened so far, i might be able to tell you more about what to expect from here.

My ears have changed. My eyes, too.
I think I might be growing horns. It's hard to tell. They're small.

unfortunately, i can't say much from just that; those are pretty common changes. anything particularly notable about what about your ears and eyes has changed?

and you mentioned your friend beatrice - what's happened to her so far?

Yellow eyes. The ears are like some kind of animal's. Black, pointed, short fur.
Beatrice grew wings. There has to be something determining who gets what, right?

well, fur narrows it down a little. i know of a few people who have gotten features kind of like cats or dogs - for a while i knew a guy who seemed to be part deer.

there are some patterns in the changes, if that's what you mean, and people have started kind of sorting them into different... types, i guess, or species.
but as far as how who gets turned into what is determined, i'm not sure.

I meant how it's determined on an individual level. If there were patterns there, or if it's influenced by a someone's past experiences.

actually, it's a really good question. it just happens not to be one that we have an answer to just yet.

for that matter, i don't think i've seen a lot of people wondering about that particular detail at all - might be good to look into.

I think I'm just reading too much into things, or trying too hard to rationalize them. It's hard to know what to think right now.

unfortunately, it doesn't get a whole lot easier here. but who knows, there may be more of a method to it than we've found yet.

it may have, but i haven't seen anything about it. i guess people have mostly been concerned with why it's happening to begin with and things like that, more than why particular people get the changes they do.

if we knew how it was determined, that could potentially help us find a solution, or at least better predict what's going to happen to who.

how is it selfish to want to give someone an explanation when they might not otherwise get one? there's nothing wrong with wanting to find something out for a particular person's sake.

I guess because I thought I already knew.
I'd rather give bad news than be the one to get it.

it's not like that's all that unusual. besides, in cases like this, it's often better to get bad news than to be left in the dark anyway.
